Oneida Reservation Celebrates 172 Years
February 3, 1838 the Oneida Reservation was established. February 3 marked the 172nd Anniversary of our Oneida Reservation. In 1821 Oneida people journeyed here from a territory known as New York. In the following years, more Oneida migrated to this rich and fertile region to create a new homeland. For more than 172 years Oneida people have made this reservation home. The Oneida Reservation was established pursuant to a treaty in 1838 which was ratified by Congress.
