Chavez Arrested, Linked to Shooting in Oneida

Kevin Chavez, 19, has been detained following a 1 a.m.
shooting on Saturday, April 6 in Site I in Oneida. Chavez was a person of
interest regarding the shooting.
Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call to an area of Elm Street and
Commissioner Street at 6:18 a.m. on April 6. The police arrived and did not
find the victim, he had already been transported to a local hospital with a
arrested on the Menominee Reservation during a traffic stop. He is being held
in the Menominee Tribal Jail, awaiting extradition.
The victim’s name is not being released and charges are yet
to be filed as the investigation continues. According to Oneida Police Chief
Rich VanBoxtel, the victim’s injuries appear to be serious, but not life-threatening.
